Abstract |
Objectives: . Demineralization denotes the dissolution of the calcium and phosphate ions from the hydroxyl-apatite/tooth structure into the plaque and saliva, caused by acidic attack. White spot lesions begin at the outermost layer of the teeth, damaging the dental hard tissues, through loss of mineral ions from the hydroxyapatite lattice at the surface. An ideal re-mineralizing agent should mimic the organization and micro-architecture of mineral crystals of natural tooth structure to the greatest extent possible. Materials & Methods: A total of 50 intact, freshly extracted permanent human anterior central incisors (extracted from diabetic patients), were selected for this study. They were stored in distilled water (room temperature 220C) until utilized. Selected teeth were classified into 2 main groups (Control (C) and Demineralized (D)) according to the type of treatment. Results: Significant difference resulted between different treatments for ΔE. All treatments of demineralized enamel significantly restored the tooth color, whereas ICON revealed the highest color difference values. Conclusion: Curodont Repair and MI Paste Plus can fill- up defects and micropores on demineralized tooth structure, significantly restored the tooth color |
