Abstract |
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of edutainment-based activities for developing self-assessment and citizenship issues among young learners. The participants of the study included (40) fourth year primary pupils, Al-Shaheed Mohammad Jouda School, AL-Salhyia Directorate, Sharqia Governorate. The instruments of the study included A self-assessment skills checklist required for this stage, A self-assessment test, A citizenship issues checklist, A citizenship issues questionnaire. The study adopted a pre-post quasi-experimental design. A one-group pre-posttest design was used. In this design, the dependent variables were measured before and after the experiment. The self-assessment test and citizenship issues questionnaire were administered to the participants prior to implementing the edutainment-based activities as a pretest. After implementing edutainment-based activities to the study sample, the EFL self-assessment test and citizenship issues questionnaire were post administered. The findings of the study revealed that the self-assessment and citizenship issues of the participants were developed as a result of edutainment-based activities. Therefore, it can be concluded that teaching the young learners edutainment-based activities was effective. |
